Jim Somers, Owner of Somers Agency, discusses his company, insurance and things he is passionate about.

What makes you so passionate about what you do?
"I truly enjoy helping people. I spend much of my free time outside of my agency doing as such. I want my kids to be proud of their dad & know I made a difference with my time here on this planet."

What was your best day in your business career?
"Every day is unique & rewarding in one way or another. Anytime someone
says thank you for spending the time & helping them, it just reassures
me that I doing the right thing."

Are you involved in your community?
"Yes! I served as Co-Chair with my wife, Julie, for Foundation for Fighting Blindness’s Inaugural VisionWalk in the city of Atlanta. VisionWalk, a 5K walk at Atlantic Station in September 2006, raised $100,000 toward the prevention & cure of degenerative eye diseases that lead to blindness. Some other charities I am involved with are North Metro Miracle League, March of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity, Noah’s Ark, Operation Santa, North Fulton Community Charities, The Foundation for Fighting Blindness, & The Center for Children & Young Adults."

Have you held any Leadership Positions?
"Many, I have held many positions. Some of them are: President of Georgia Association of Mortgage Brokers in 2003, Created Charitable Events Committee for GAMB during Presidency & Current Chair Twice voted GAMB Volunteer of the Year in 2004 & 2005, President of Alpharetta Accelerators BNI Chapter for 2008-2009, Served as Children’s Group Leader & Host Team Captain at North Point Community Church Charter Member, Rotary Club of Johns Creek North Fulton & Director of Community Service, Voted 2004-2005 & 2005-2006 Rotarian of the Year and President of Johns Creek North Fulton Rotary Club in 2007-2008

Can you tell us about your Personal Life?
"I am husband & father blessed with two beautiful daughters, Karina & Kylie. We attend Northpoint Community Church & our faith plays a central role in our lives. Both my wife & I are Life Members of The University of South Florida Alumni Association. In my spare time I enjoy working out, spending quality time with my family, & I’m an avid sports buff."

Where or how do you see yourself in 5 years?
"Doing exactly what I'm doing today, which is growing my agency &
assisting others."

What is a motto you live by?
"I work as hard as I can every single day & rely on God to take me the rest of the way."
